MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 

R/GA is seeking a motivated individual who is interested in achieving 'best in class' results in a very dynamic environment. This Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Finance Manager, Producers/Account Leads on the overall financial management of client work.  This includes but not limited to overseeing billing of fees and monitoring out of pocket expenses, also month-end close.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for working with the client teams to review Job tracking, Billings/Adjustments, Purchase Orders, Job Request/Closings, Job Transfers, Write offs, Statements of Work and Project Change Notices
  • Responsible for ensuring that client invoicing is accurate and timely and arrange with back-office support
  • Managing and chasing clients to ensure current Accounts Receivable balances
  • Assist in reporting on A/R and A/P review for clients in Group
  • Liaising with Accounts Payable to ensure timely set up and payment of third party and freelancer invoices
  • Conduct reconciliations as may be required by contract with our clients and as requested 
  • Assist Finance Manager and back-office support with month-end close, including journal entries, preparation of accruals, intercompany matching, adjustments and revenue recognition in partnership with the revenue and Invoicing function
  • Review staff expense claims and track out of pocket costs to clients
  • Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Additional related responsibilities and ad hoc reporting as required based on the evolving needs of the department and agency



CHARACTERISTICS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

 

  • Fluent in English and Japanese
  • Certificate in Accounting and Bookkeeping (Nissho Boki 3rd grade or above) or similar required or completed or currently studying towards a degree in Finance/Accounting desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years similar accounting experience required preferably in the advertising industry
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft excel skills and knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels, in person and via telephone
  • Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions
  • Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively
  • Must have the ability to work well under time constraints
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a high pressured environment
  • Must have the ability to work well in conjunction with others
